The frame drum with jingles from Epirus or “ntaires” is a medium-diameter drum and its sound (“voice”) is distinct at traditional bands of NW Greece. Its diameter is 12in to 14in.
The jingles are hand hammered and made by brass or copper. Ntaires is made by a single-ply or 2-ply walnut frame and its drumhead is synthetic or natural. Also it is a tunable frame drum and it can be tuned either by means of a steel rim or by using an embedded tuning system. Moreover it has to be underlined the fact that Siasos drums ntaires is the lightest tunable ntaires ever made!
